reconditioned turbo
Reconditioned Turbo

At Turbo Clinic UK Ltd we offer a turbo repair service on your existing turbo instead of supplying you with either a brand new turbocharger or a reconditioned turbo off the shelf. If time will allow we would always recommend this procedure. The reasons for this are that we can expertly advise as to why your turbo has failed, and then if there is ANYTHING that needs rectifying this can be done before your replacement turbo is fitted and thereby eliminating the same problem recurring.
Procedure of cost of repair
- We will arrange collection of your turbo from any address the customer requests
- We will receive the turbo the next day, upon which we will start repairing your turbo quickly and efficiently to supply you with a quality reconditioned turbo. The turbo will be totally stripped into separate components. At this point all seals, bearings, nuts , bolts and studs are discarded of.
- Each individual component (Shaft wheel, Bearing housing etc) is washed and steam cleaned to assess the condition/damage to them.
- All Bearing housings and turbine housings are put in a furnace to burn off all carbon deposits before the final cleaning/polishing procedure.
- All components are polished.
- A final inspection of each component is taken and all parts that meet the OE manufacturers specifications are used again, and components which don't are replaced with brand new original components.
- At this point the shaft wheels and compressor wheels are dynamically balanced and then built to a core assembly. All high speed turbos, which is most car and light vehicle turbos are then core balanced up to 250,000 RPM on the very latest VSR machine. (Vibration Sort Rig) this results in a much quieter and a longer lasting reconditioned turbocharger.
- The compressor and turbine housings are installed along with the actuator and calibration of the actuator is completed.
- A final inspection of the reconditioned turbo takes place and then all nuts, bolts and gaskets are supplied, then boxed up and shipped back to you the next day.
Repairing your existing turbo has many advantages:
1) We are working with your turbo and your parts. This means that you only pay for the components which actually need replacing.
2) When we see your turbo, our experienced technicians will be able to identify an exact reason for failure. This is very important because if there is some underlying problem which has caused the turbo to fail and it is not just down to wear and tear, we can speak to you, and your mechanic to advise precautions to take before refitting your new turbo.
